Salvation of the Middle Class I never thought I would write a politically motivated piece, but the continuous deterioration of our national fiber is particularly alarming. I believe that our situation is well past alarming, and we are the ultimately responsible guardians of our civilization. In other words “the buck stops here”. Having been breast feed on liberalism in Southern California, I am no stranger to the compassionate government theory, but as Winston Churchill observed, “If you are not a liberal as a young man, you have no heart. If you are not a conservative as an old man, you have no brains”. Let’s take a simplified look at the philosophical dichotomy of social versus economic politics. If you take an untarnished liberal prospective, and when I say untarnished I mean free of contamination from politicians, you would put forth the argument that an enlightened caring society has a primary responsibility to preserve it’s natural resources (the planet), create conditions that stimulate a quality life for all it’s citizens, and strives to radiate this utopian example throughout the planet in a non destructive fashion. On the other hand, if you were to examine the economic approach, you would find the construct, “What’s good for commerce is what’s good for the country”. Now if you introduce globalism into the equation, you spread production over the planet in order to increase profit, stimulate foreign economies, make productive use of human resources, and bring free market expansionism to all points on the compass. Both ends of this argument can be supported philosophically and are equally disastrous in practice. Unfettered Capitalism is a monster. It will trample the individual in support of corporate profits. Unrestrained humanism will economically bankrupt you and leave you incapable of supporting the causes you believe in. In other words, we lack balance. We swing like a pendulum from one extreme to the next. From sweatshops to unrestrained welfare giveaways. From golden umbrella CEO’s to tenement poor, and the ends will gobble up the middle, and it is the middle that supports the process. Therefore, if you destroy the Middle Class you end the enlightened civilization. It is the Middle Class to which I belong and to whom I wish to save. It is the Middle Class that shoulders the burdens of our nation, both in human and economic sacrifice. It is the Middle Class that must band together in order to neutralize the extremes in our civilization. In the First Continental Congress, you had assembled more brain activity in one room than perhaps anywhere, anytime in history. The estimated IQ of most of these gentlemen is impressive, if not staggering. These intelligent individuals immigrated to this country in order to seek philosophical freedom, and pursue their unlimited potential. I believe they argued at length the concept of fair and just. I know they desired freedom, and you can bet they wanted only enough government, to ensure these principles. Look at what we’ve become. The poor want more, the rich want it all, and the Middle class gets to pay. I assure you this was not what our founding fathers had in mind. It understandable that the poor want more, but the giveaway mentality is totally non-corrective of the problem. There are old adages that have endured because of their inherent truth. Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Endlessly financing giveaway programs does not address the problem, and neither does out sourcing. Now the rich, apart from being smart, or at least having access to brains, look to preserve their position, as did the Senate in ancient Rome, which led to the destruction of Julius Caesar, who wished to institute a balanced representation from other classes and ethnic orientations. I know you have heard America paralleled with the decline of Ancient Rome, so what can you do about it? First, you must realize that the wealthy have manipulated their resources, so that they are virtually unaffected by the consequences of poverty. Through lobbying, (a criminal institution, if ever there was one), lawyers, and political contribution, the rich can elect those who will spend your resources without conscience. The people, who disproportionately pick up the tab, are the many who work to maintain an evaporating quality of life that includes housing, food, education and family. The idea of elevating their quality of life has been virtually striped from them, because politicians are not accountability to the Middle Class, and I hold these truths to be self-evident. We need to unite, which means we have to overlook some preferences in order to survive. If you fade into the lower class, you will have no ability to address social agendas. This part is going to be tough to swallow, so please bear with me because I am not going to take a moral position apart from our economic survival. Agendas that focus on racial, religious, or sexual preference are a contrived political distraction. I don’t mean to say they are not important, I mean to say many of them are irreconcilable politically. You may not believe or support the actions of others, but for the salvation of personal freedom we must ignore some behavior as long as it is not forced upon us. Our current social extreme would have you accept the behavior of those who would destroy you and your way of life. The assertion that you can negotiate your way out of every crisis is ludicrous. The idea that you need to draw first and shoot them all, and let God sort them out, is equally out of balance, and it is balance that we must seek. My major was psychology before I gravitated to design as a profession. From that experience as a reference point, and from a long life of capitalist’s pursuit and love of the free market economy, I can safely say man, as a species cannot be trusted. If you are faithful, I assure you that God is not the problem. Anything that man has tampered with for any period should be highly suspect, if not critically examined. Politicians should be investigated on a regular basis, without protection from their respective institutions. Technology has been a mixed blessing. On the one hand it has remarkably increased our capabilities and on the other it has exploited our life styles all over the planet. The theory of the haves and have-nots is more potent an argument than religious fervor. If you live in lack, as most of the world does, and you are exposed to the world of haves, what do you think the reactions will be? Now if you accept the unsavory basic nature on man, and his propensity for deceit, you might consider protecting yourself as a primary action to insure survival. In other words, if you don’t survive physically or economically you’ve lost! Period! End of discussion… These are the balance points that are critical today. You need to forget, race, religion, sex, and any other differences that divide you from acting as a massive force seeking survival. We need to embrace candidates who will negotiate in our economic interests before all is lost. We should start by removing incumbents in the primaries. We should use recall when we, are lied to. We need to take our Country Back. According to the polls I believe I am preaching to about 80% of you. If a political platform does not expressly empower the Middle Class it is a harbinger of your destruction. We are at perhaps the most dangerous apex in our history. If you do not become an active participant in the solution, you are destined to be the victim you embrace. Survival of the Middle Class is survival of America. I welcome your suggestions, as to further this cause; if you disagree with the premise that the Middle Class is in jeopardy don’t bother to write. I am reaching out to America because I believe in freedom, perseverance, hard work, and reward. Please help me save America.
